Primary 5

P5H/M will be continuing with our tropical Rainforest topic. We’ve dug ‘exotic’ plants into our planter and tomorrow we’re tasting foods from the rainforest. We conducted a survey in the upper school on foods from the rainforest that pupils have eaten.  Our pictograms revealed that cocoa powder, pineapples and passion fruit to be the most common. (We had decided not to include bananas as everyone eats them).

Next term we’re looking forward to experiencing a ‘real’ rainforest environment at Dynamic Earth and to working on our Assembly which will also have the rainforest as its theme. For that we’re learning a couple of songs, one of which is in French!

We will also be looking more closely at deforestation and the impacts that is having plus trying our hand at turning shredded paper into recycled paper.

P5M had a great first term and have another busy term coming up; we are continuing with class topic on the rain forest and we will be developing our learning to focus on the sustainability and protection of rain forests. We are looking forward to our trip to Dynamic earth this term to help support our learning on the rain forests.
P5M will also be starting learning to play the recorder this term with our music specialist
